Ratio Monitoring Policy
Ratio Monitoring Policy
At Raising Explorers Nursery, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised environment for all children. Our staffing and safety practices ensure that every child receives high-quality care and attention.
Adult-to-Child Ratios
- We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory staffing ratios at all times, including during outings and emergencies.
- Staff monitor ratios in their rooms and report any concerns immediately to the manager.
- If additional staff are required, the manager takes appropriate action to maintain safe ratios.
Cleanliness & Hygiene
- All rooms, play areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces are risk assessed and cleaned regularly.
- Rooms are checked at the start and end of each day to ensure they are safe and tidy.
- Bathrooms and potties are cleaned after each use, and the outdoor area is checked for any hazards before play.
Safety & Supervision
- Staff ensure that ratios are always correct and that children are properly supervised.
- Any incidents, accidents, or undesirable behaviour are logged, and parents/carers are informed and asked to sign relevant forms.
- Confidentiality is maintained for all children involved in incidents.
- Children will never be allowed to go home with anyone other than their parent/carer unless authorised by management.
Medicines & Emergencies
Written consent from parents/carers is required for administering any medication.
- In the event of a serious accident, staff will:
- Keep other children calm and supervised
- Resolve the situation safely
- Alert the manager immediately with minimal disturbance
Our Commitment
By following these guidelines, we ensure that every child at Raising Explorers Nursery is safe, cared for, and supported to thrive in a well-supervised environment.
