Baby Room (0 - 2 years)

Our Baby Room is a calm, nurturing environment specially designed with security and comfort in mind for babies and children up to 2 years old. The space features low-level, accessible storage and furniture, encouraging babies to independently explore and interact with a variety of age-appropriate resources.

We pride ourselves on offering gentle routines and one-to-one attention, ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and valued. With a high staff-to-child ratio of 1:3, our dedicated Early Years Practitioners can provide highly responsive care and build meaningful relationships with each child.

A wide variety of sensory play and bonding activities support the development of key early skills. Daily experiences include sensory exploration, singing, messy play, creative activities, and imaginative role play—all thoughtfully planned around the individual needs and interests of each child.

Our babies benefit from their own secure outdoor play area, where they can enjoy fresh air and nature throughout the year. The area includes shaded spots so children are always protected from the elements as they explore the changing seasons.

Meal times in the Baby Room are sociable, happy occasions. Children sit together around low-level tables and chairs to enjoy healthy, home-cooked meals—prepared in the right consistency to suit each child’s stage of development. We support every baby on their journey toward becoming a confident, independent eater.

Rest and sleep times are handled with the utmost care. Thanks to our strong key person system, every baby has a familiar adult to comfort and settle them. Whether in a cot or on a low-level bed, babies can nap when they need to, and we work closely with parents to mirror sleep routines from home for a consistent and reassuring experience.

Toddler Room (2–3 years)

Our Toddler Room is a vibrant and stimulating environment designed to support toddlers as they begin to take their first steps toward independence. With carefully arranged, low-level furniture and open-ended resources, children are encouraged to make choices, try new things, and grow in confidence as they explore their surroundings.

We focus on encouraging first steps in independence—from self-feeding and dressing to expressing choices and emotions. Our experienced Early Years Practitioners support each child with warmth and encouragement, helping them develop key life skills at their own pace.

With a staff-to-child ratio of 1:5, our team is able to offer the right balance of guidance and freedom, nurturing both group interaction and individual attention. Practitioners plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and physical development.

Creative play, songs, and early learning form the heart of our daily routines. Toddlers enjoy activities such as imaginative role play, story time, dancing, singing, early mark-making, puzzles, and construction play—building the foundations for literacy, numeracy, and communication in a fun, hands-on way.

Our outdoor play area provides exciting opportunities for active learning, with space to run, climb, dig, and explore. Toddlers are encouraged to develop gross motor skills and build physical confidence while enjoying the fresh air year-round.

Meal times are lively, social experiences where toddlers learn to feed themselves and interact with their peers. Healthy, home-cooked meals are served at low-level tables and are tailored to meet each child’s dietary needs and stage of development.

Rest and quiet times are still important at this age. Cosy areas and low-level beds are available for children to nap or relax when needed, with their key person close by to offer comfort and reassurance. We work closely with families to respect and reflect each child’s routine from home.

Pre-School Room (3–5 years)

Our Preschool Room is a rich, engaging environment designed to prepare children for their next big step—starting school. The space promotes independence, cooperation, and confidence, with a wide variety of resources that support all areas of early development.

With a staff-to-child ratio of 1:8, our experienced Early Years Practitioners offer a thoughtful balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities, fostering both creativity and structure. Children are encouraged to work together, solve problems, and build lasting friendships as part of a caring learning community.

A strong focus is placed on school readiness and group learning, helping children develop essential skills such as turn-taking, listening, following instructions, and managing routines. Group times include circle time, story sessions, and collaborative games, all aimed at boosting confidence and communication.

Our daily activities are designed to support early education through literacy, numeracy, role play, and outdoor fun. Children explore phonics, mark-making, counting, shapes, and number games through play-based learning. Imaginative role play, construction, and storytelling help build vocabulary and social understanding.

The outdoor learning environment is an extension of the classroom, offering endless opportunities for physical development and exploration. From growing plants and bug hunting to water play and obstacle courses, children are encouraged to develop gross motor skills and an appreciation of the natural world.

Meal times are sociable and structured, giving children the chance to practise independence, serve themselves, and make healthy choices. Meals are home-cooked and served in a calm, family-style setting.

While most children outgrow naps at this stage, our Preschool Room includes quiet areas for rest and relaxation, allowing children to unwind when they need to. Practitioners are always close by to offer comfort and support.

Early Childhood Educators

At Raising Explorers Nursery, our passionate and highly qualified early years educators provide the highest standard of care and learning. All staff hold recognised childcare or early education qualifications.

We value stability, so our team is made up only of permanent part time and full time educators. We do not use agency staff. Our permanent float educators provide cover when needed, ensuring children always have familiar, trusted adults around them.

This consistency supports strong relationships and gives children the confidence to explore, learn, and grow in a safe, caring environment.
